I had lunch with the man of my dreams!
Today I had lunch with the man of my dreams.
I sat side by side with a man who absolutely sets my heart aflutter.
Let me see if I can begin to do him justice.
He is stocky yet athletic and tends to dress a bit grunge. Remember that? He has the most incredibly blue eyes you have ever seen. Looking into them is a dream, I can hardly keep myself contained when I peer into those glassy blues with such innocence and love. Not to mention he has flawless skin with a smattering of freckles across his cheeks that only serve to add to his sunny countenance.
The two of us have a bit of a language barrier. I have to listen hard to understand what he wants to portray to me but words do not have to pass between us for kindred hearts to speak. He is an open book and a man after God’s own heart. The humblest of the humble, a true member of the kingdom of Christ.
We ate the simplest of meals but my joy has rarely been so complete. He requested pb&j and couldn’t be persuaded otherwise. I ate the same and watched in wonder as he licked his fingers, finishing every morsel. No meal with this man would be complete without a glass of juice and a swipe of the hands down the front of his recently clean-ish shirt.
Who is it?
Certainly not the ONLY man of my dreams.
None other than…
My man, aka Bubba.
No his eyes aren’t quite that blue but I had fun editing since I rarely have time for such extravagance!
Portraits of Fun-Lookin Back on the Past Year
These are a few of my favorite things!
Here is Thing One and his look alike pumpkin…
Here is Thing One’s Portrait of his baby sister (now one year old-my how the time flies) and I on her 1 week birthday…
Here are three of my favorite things; leaves, the color green and my little buddy “Bubba”…
And here is one of my favorite pictures of Thing Two. He and his older brother got these headlamps for their birthday and while Grammy and Papa were visiting he disappeared. No one could find him anywhere, we were calling and looking, trying not to panic. Finally after a good half hour his Grammy found him asleep with the headlamp on under the guest bed! Gotta love the boy…
More Piggies!
Pee Wee finally has long enough hair for pig tails! This could get out of hand really fast! 🙂
She is also big enough to sneak off and eat a bowl full of cat food. Ha ha, what fun!
Gotta go for now.

Bokey or Bokoo, it’s Bokeh
Well I was sitting here, sipping an overly sweet cup of coffee and eating a handful of chocolate chips, feeling sorry for myself having woke up early this morning to dogs barking and my two middle boys screaming at eachother and throwing cars. Ugh! I “wandered” over to check out some photo tips at Pioneer Woman and Mizz Booshay had published a challenge. Hey, maybe I’ll give it a shot said I! So, crawling out of my funk here is my attempt at capturing fall with bokeh using my little point and shoot camera.
So what is bokeh you ask? Beats me! Okay so I don’t know the technical explination but I like what Jennifer said, “bokeh is that fuzzy dreaminess” in the background.
In my opinion, fall is the best season of all and it is more than just changing leaves, although I love that too, it is about texture…
and harvesting strange ears of crossbred corn (Oops!)…
and the wonder in a childs eyes (does this one count-only a little bokeh)…
and of course the colors…
All pics are straight out of my little point and shoot camera except the one of Bubba, I cropped it to eliminate a nice shot of his runny nose, guess that’s fall too maybe I should have left it! That was fun, thanks for the challenge, I’m temporarily out of my funk!
What’s in a Name?
If you look at Biblical examples many times children were named for the mother’s first impression; Esau (hairy), Jacob (deceiver- he came as a surprise, hanging onto the heel of his elder brother) and so on….
I’ve decided if I were to name my kids based on my current impression they would not have the most flattering of names. Would I for that matter??
Introducing Lawyer (master of debate and arguing his case):
Here is Ticking Time Bomb (everything is fine until an unknown switch is triggered and KABOOM!):
This is Clown (jokester, magpie, remember-er of everything especially naughty words and apparently “funny” jokes):
Finally the Girl (at least she IS a girl but man can she scream and manipulate and get everyone wrapped around that pinky finger):
Sigh! Then there is me, I can’t even imagine the things I deserve to be called. Thank you Lord for giving us a “new name” for making us children of the Living God, for allowing us to be know by association of YOU.
Christian
“Christ follower”
“Little Christ”
“Child of the Most High!”
Revelation 2:17 He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it.
Revelation 3:11-13 11.I am coming soon, hold onto what you have so that no one will take your crown. 12.Him who overcomes I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will he leave it. I will write on him the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which is coming down out of heavenfrom my God; and I will also write on him my new name. 13. He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
Sometimes I Forget
Sometimes I forget to taste my food.
I’ve even forgotten what wheat tastes like.
Sometimes I forget that my children are all very young,
That the oldest is young enough to still fear the dark.
Sometimes I forget to hug my husband,
And that my best weapon is prayer, my shield is the God who sees!
Sometimes I forget that I do a good job,
That the children will not remember a swept floor, a well thought out meal.
Sometimes I forget my manners, my patience, my happy countenance
But my Jesus, my Joy
He is my witness
Sometimes I forget
He never forgets

Back to the Garden
We haven’t been in the garden lately. I’ve been blessed with rain and extra hands but I’ve missed visiting on a daily, sometimes twice daily basis.
Here is what has been going on while I was away.
I discovered that not all of my beans died and they have even begun to flower.
I have two different varieties of corn that are doing well. The one above is an heirloom sweet corn called Clem Bennet. Below is a Blue Pop Popcorn Variety.
I even spotted a couple ears beginning to bulge and show silks!
I love how the cucumber flowers have mini cucumbers sneaking up behind them on the stem.
But even better than that is a cucumber ready for one of my Thinglets to pick for tonight’s salad!
Eggplant flowers are amazingly pretty and I have two varieties to pick from. I can’t wait to make Barbequey Ratatouille with my garden fresh eggplant.
This jalapeno was so well disguised beneith the dark similiarly shaped leaves I didn’t even spot it until it was near seven inches long!
Below my re purposed crib rails protect the lettuce from the hot sun and provide a trellis for the cucumbers to climb.

Another Attempt- Macro Monday
My title could be very telling if you allow it some depth of reason! Are Macro and Mom synonyms? I wish I was a centipede.
One of the major struggles I have in my life is to remember to stop and smell the flowers!
I look at everything through a “macro” lens of critical thoughts and suspicion. It is such an easy thing to do especially with small children. Instead of feeling blessed by the “quality” time included in picking up multiples of puzzle pieces from several dumped puzzles I get frustrated and overwhelmed. I need to stop and consider my blessings and enjoy my darling children.
I found this encouragement on a magnet, author unknown…
EXCUSE This House
Some houses try to hide the fact that children shelter there: Ours boasts of it quite openly, the signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows, little smudges on the doors; I should apologize, I guess, for toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children and we played and laughed and read, and if the doorbell doesn’t shine their eyes will shine instead.
For when I have to choose between the one job or the other, though I need to cook and clean, first I’ll be a mother.

My Tootsies
What? A tootsies picture for I Heart Faces! Ha ha! I was excited about this theme because I am able to share one of my all time favorite photos of all four kids! From left to right; Bubba (2), Thing 1 (7), PeeWee (1wk here) and the imfamous Thing 2 (5). I took about thirty shots in the 5 minutes that they fairly cooperated and happily got one out of the bunch! This was taken before PeeWee was even a week old. I will cherish it forever 🙂
Lest you go away thinking, “Her boys are so well behaved” I will include a little playful proof otherwise along with some mother to mother (parent to parent) encouragement in the form of one of my un-recipes to keep things real.
